Georgia Expands Agricultural Support for Climate-Exposed Apple Processing Businesses
On 3 November, Georgia added non-standard apple processing to its agricultural co-financing programme, allowing eligible processors to access preferential loans of GEL 500,000–5 million for up to nine months. The government will subsidise interest, while participating processors must pay farmers at least GEL 0.25 per kilogram; the existing scheme provides a GEL 0.10-per-kilogram state subsidy. The measure creates opportunities in agricultural processing, food-waste reduction and rural supply chains; HPC can support sustainability research, project feasibility and agricultural investment planning.
